About me
I am an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal, and former Associate Professor at the Natural History Museum of Denmark (SNM), University of Copenhagen. I was born in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, and completed my BSc, MSc and PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Aveiro in Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Gonçalves and Prof. Pedro Oromí (Universidad de La Laguna, Spain). I worked as a postdoc with Prof. Henrik Enghoff at the SNM. Currently, I lead a research group focused on different aspects of ecology, evolution, physiology, and conservation, using mostly ecosystems from the shallow subterranean habitats to the deep subsurface biosphere and its relation with surface. I am also very interested in understanding parasite-host interactions, mostly linked with arthropod-fungi associations. I am also a Research Associate at the Natural History Museum of Denmark. Curating entomological collections, outreach and science communication is also an interesting part of my work.
